Hand feeding

So far I’ve felt like our new chicks have been strangely unfriendly. And I was out sitting near their cage the other day and remembered that we hand fed our big chickens a lot when they were young. I realized i had barely hand fed these chicks at all.

For the past few days i have been consistently hand feeding the chicks. And very quickly they’re less scared of me and easier to catch.

Not a boy!!

As you know we now have six baby Laced Wyandottes, who are now living in the garage because they’re getting huge. Well one of the chicks. Hermia. has a very large tail and a single comb and for a Wyandotte that is a sure sign of being a boy. We’ll see if he starts crowing before we kick him out.
